Junk Removal in Lakewood

Lakewood is a city where the free backstop doesn't exist. The city doesn't provide or contract residential trash, and there's no municipal bulk pickup — so a couch on the curb has exactly one path off your property, and it's a private one.

We do — not the curb

In a lot of Front Range cities, the answer to "what do I do with this couch" starts with a city program. In Lakewood it doesn't, because there isn't one.

Lakewood does not provide residential trash service and does not contract a hauler on residents' behalf. Every household sets up its own service with whatever company it picks. That's a reasonable way to run a city, and it has one consequence worth knowing: there is no municipal bulk pickup. No annual cleanup day to wait for, no five-items-at-the-curb program, no backstop.

So a large item has two paths. Your private hauler may take it — call and ask, because terms differ by company and by plan. Or somebody comes and gets it.

What that means practically

If you're clearing a garage in Green Mountain, turning a rental off Colfax, or emptying a parent's house in Belmar, you're not choosing between us and a free city service. You're choosing between renting a truck, making repeat trips to a transfer station, paying the gate fee, and spending your weekend — or having a crew do it in one visit with the disposal already in the price.

That's a much simpler decision than people expect once they realize the free option isn't on the table.

What we do here

Full junk removal — you point, we carry, it's gone. Single heavy pieces out of split-levels and basements, which is most of Lakewood's housing stock and exactly where a sleeper sofa becomes a two-person problem. Garage, basement, and estate cleanouts. Rental turns for the landlords and property managers running doors along Wadsworth, Union, and Kipling. Remodel debris from the ranch and split-level updates that have been going on across this city for a decade.

And heavy material — Lakewood has a lot of aging concrete flatwork and 1970s landscape rock, and both are priced by weight rather than by how the pile looks.

Dumping is in the price

Because there's no city program absorbing any of this, the disposal cost is real and it lands on somebody. We put it in the quote instead of adding it after. We look at the material, price the whole trip — crew, trailer, drive, gate fee, disposal — and give you one number before we load a thing.

Sitting on the west side means we're on the ground here constantly. Tell us what you've got. Get a quote.

What the city does — and doesn't

Lakewood doesn't collect trash — or large items.

The City of Lakewood states plainly that it does not contract with haulers on behalf of residents and does not provide waste collection as a utility. Residents, business owners, and property managers arrange their own service directly with a hauler of their choosing. There is no city bulk or large-item pickup program to fall back on, and the city's Quail Street Recycling Center takes recyclables, not bulk waste.

  • The city does not provide residential trash service and does not contract a hauler for you.
  • Every household picks and pays its own hauler — so service levels differ house to house.
  • No city bulk or large-item pickup program.
  • Quail Street Recycling Center is for recyclables, not couches, mattresses, or debris.
  • Whether your private hauler will take a large item, and what it costs, is between you and them.

Programs change. Everything above was verified against Lakewood Trash and Recycling, but confirm the current schedule, limits, and cost with the City of Lakewood— and with your HOA or your hauler if you have one — before you count on it. We'd rather you use a free city program that fits than pay us for something you didn't need.

What we run in Lakewood

Lakewood junk removal questions

Does Lakewood have a free bulk item pickup?
No. The City of Lakewood doesn't provide residential trash service or contract a hauler for residents, and there's no municipal bulk or large-item pickup program. Getting a couch or an appliance off your property is a private transaction either way.
Won't my trash company take a big item?
Some will, for an extra charge, and some won't. It depends entirely on which hauler you signed up with and what plan you're on — Lakewood doesn't set those terms. Call them and ask; if the answer is no or the wait is long, call us.
Can I take it to the Quail Street Recycling Center?
That facility is for recyclables, not bulk waste. A mattress, a sectional, or a pile of remodel debris isn't what it's set up for.
Do you cover all of Lakewood?
Yes — Green Mountain, Belmar, Applewood, Union Square, Bear Creek, and everything between Sheridan and the foothills. We're on the west side constantly.
Can you get a sleeper sofa out of a split-level?
That's a normal day. Split-levels and finished basements are most of Lakewood's stock, and we come with straps, a hand truck, blankets, and jamb protection. We take a piece apart when that's the smart way out.
