Junk Removal in Arvada

Arvada partners with a hauler and does offer bulk pickup — prepaid, by appointment, at the curb. What it won't take is a long list, and it's a list that covers most of what's actually in an Arvada garage.

Who carries it out
We do — not the curb

Arvada actually has options, which makes it one of the more interesting cities on this list. It also has the clearest illustration of why a junk-removal crew exists.

The city partners with Republic Services, and you can schedule an on-demand bulk pickup by phone. But it's prepaid — you pay first, and only the items you scheduled and paid for get taken. There's also a drop-off event a few Saturdays a year at the North Area Athletic Complex, five items, proof of residency, and you unload your own vehicle.

Both are fine. Neither one loads anything for you, and both have a list.

The list is the problem

Arvada's bulk pickup doesn't accept electronics, hazardous material, appliances containing Freon, tires, glass, construction debris, or exercise equipment.

Read that list again and think about a normal Arvada garage: the old TV, the mini-fridge, the four tires from the truck you sold, the treadmill, the box of paint from the basement repaint, and the drywall scrap from the bathroom. Every single one of those is excluded.

The exercise-equipment exclusion is the one that gets people. A treadmill or a home gym is heavy, awkward, doesn't come apart nicely, and is the single most common "I need this out of my basement" call we get — and it's exactly what the city program won't touch.

What we do that the city program doesn't

We come to the item instead of waiting at the curb. We load it. And we take the excluded stuff, because we route it correctly rather than sending it to a landfill that would reject it anyway.

Electronics go to an e-waste recycler — Colorado banned them from landfills in 2013 under SB12-133. Refrigerant appliances go to a facility where a certified technician recovers the refrigerant first, per Clean Air Act §608. Construction and remodel debris is a normal load for us, not an exception.

What we run in Arvada

Junk removal and cleanouts across Olde Town, Ralston Valley, Candelas, and the older neighborhoods south of Ralston Road. Furniture and appliance removal — the treadmill, the sleeper, the basement chest freezer. Garage clear-outs, which this city generates a lot of. Rental turns. And heavy debris from the patio and driveway replacements happening all over the older west-side blocks.

One note that has nothing to do with trash: Arvada permits all fencing, which the sibling company Frontier Fence Work deals with constantly. If a fence tear-out is what's generating your pile, we haul the old panels.

What the city does — and doesn't

Arvada's bulk pickup is prepaid, curbside, and picky.

Arvada partners with Republic Services for trash and recycling, and residents can schedule on-demand bulk item pickup by phone. It isn't free — prepayment is required and only the items you scheduled and paid for get removed, with the rate quoted by phone. Items go to the curb by 7 a.m. on your pickup day. Separately, the city runs bulky-item drop-off Saturdays at the North Area Athletic Complex with a five-item limit, proof of residency, and you unload your own vehicle.

  • On-call bulk pickup is prepaid — only scheduled, paid items are taken.
  • Items must be at the curb by 7 a.m. on the pickup day, placed by you.
  • Not accepted: electronics, hazardous material, appliances containing Freon, tires, glass, construction debris, and exercise equipment.
  • Bulky-item drop-off events: five items, proof of residency, and you unload it yourself.
  • Check the city's current rate and event dates — Arvada doesn't publish a standing per-item price.

Programs change. Everything above was verified against Arvada Bulk Pickup, but confirm the current schedule, limits, and cost with the City of Arvada— and with your HOA or your hauler if you have one — before you count on it. We'd rather you use a free city program that fits than pay us for something you didn't need.

Arvada junk removal questions

Is Arvada's bulk pickup free?
No. On-call bulk pickup is prepaid — you pay up front and only the scheduled, paid items are removed. The city doesn't publish a standing per-item rate, so call to get the current one.
Will Arvada take my treadmill?
No. Exercise equipment is on the city's not-accepted list, along with electronics, Freon appliances, tires, glass, hazardous material, and construction debris. We take all of it, and we carry it up out of the basement rather than waiting at the curb.
What about the bulky-item drop-off events?
Those exist at the North Area Athletic Complex — five items, proof of residency, and you unload your own vehicle. Useful if you already have a truck and time. Check the city for the current dates; they change year to year.
Do I have to put things at the curb for you?
No. That's the city's requirement, not ours. We go get it from the basement, the garage, the back shed, or behind the gate.
Can you take remodel debris from an Arvada job?
Yes — drywall, flooring, cabinets, decking, fence panels, tear-off. It's specifically excluded from the city's bulk program and it's a normal load for us.
